Hi, sorry everyone for putting up this post with a broken link! Oops! I checked it and discovered that you probably couldn’t see any of the content that I was trying to share…
Really I was trying to send you over to my Facebook athlete page: https://facebook.com/caitlinpattersonskier where I posted a comment on the recent IOC anti-doping decision. I’m bringing my Facebook athlete page into a higher level of activity as we head into winter, so if you’re interested in a wider range of updates, please consider following me there.
Here’s my comment:
“With 100 days to go until the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, the IOC has disqualified two Russian men from the 2014 Olympics and barred them from competing in future Olympics. I’ll be keeping an eye on this story as it develops further, and as the outcome of other related trials are released. It’s disturbing to find out that some athletes in cross-country skiing have likely doped, and have gone so long unpunished. But it reminds me that we must be vigilant, keep looking for ways to support anti-doping testing programs, put pressure on governing bodies to take a stand for clean sport, educate ourselves on progress and pitfalls of the cause, and speak up when we can.
I haven’t spoken much on this politicized topic, but recent news such as this disqualification makes me distinctly aware of how much I value clean sport and all it stands for.
Thank you IOC for taking this step towards preserving clean sport! Let’s keep it going, keep the pressure on, and fight to #CompeteClean and #PlayTrue!
If you haven’t yet, watch Icarus and visit https://fairsport.org/.
I’ll keep looking for ways to support clean sport, and I hope you will too.

Within the past few weeks, another 4 Russian athletes have been suspended by the IOC — and yet because FIS (the international ski federation) has not made their own ruling, at least one of these suspended athletes has been competing in early season races!
